Olive Branch

Peace

Reconciliation

New Beginning

There is a promise of a brighter future

I know it to be true

The light is breaking through

A light that powers and empowers

Illuminates the Presence of God

Even when the wind blows

The storms rage

Fruit remains

Kindness

Joy

Love

Goodness

There is cleansing

There is healing

There is life

Hope

Blessing

A land of milk of honey lying just beyond

Eternal, immortal, and sacred

Dreams

Desires

Design

I decided recently that I want to gradually fill out this space on my arm, so today my highly talented niece, Emma, began the art of building around the sword she placed there a couple of years ago. I know a lot of people choose tattoos because they simply like an item or object, which is fantastic. Then there’s me . . . I search for layers of meaning in everything. And once I find meaning, I dig a little deeper to find a little more. Sometimes I wonder if this is creativity or insanity. I think I may be ok with either.

Around this time last year, I became enamored by the olive tree. I started researching how to bring one into my home. Today I decided to get some olive branches on my arm instead. The poem above outlines all of the symbolism of the olive branch and what it means to me, right now. But it really is so much more . . . Layers of newness being uncovered and experienced.

And if you want to read about the sword:
